Smart Phones and tablets are changing the way we can all communicate and do business. iPhone now has some very good competitors runing Android such as the HTC Desire and the new Samsung Galaxy S (largest screen yet). Samsung are also about to realease the new Galaxy Tab which is a 7" touch tablet, runs Android, has open bluetooth compatability (unlike Apple?) and is also a phone! I'll be much keener to lash out on Samsung's tablet that Apple's iPad.
Here's something you might not know you can do on the iPhone... you can it as a Skype phone over your wireless broadband! Put some credit in your Skype account and you can call any landline in Australia for around 3.1 cents per minute!! I think there are now some video apps that let you talk face to face over broadband (unsure how they perform, I haven't used them yet)
Adwords, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Social Media
Confused about SEO, Adwords, ROI, CPC and all the other online marketing you receive some "sales call" about every other day..?
Well while it's not rocket science, surprisingly I find not that many people are very good at it. There is so much right and mis-information out there where do you start..?
Let's consider Adwords (or Pay-per-click advertising). My general approach is that each click should not cost any more than the cost of printing a letter and attaching a postage stamp! - I run some very successful campaigns for average click cost of around 21 to 55 cents each with great results (ie: sales enquiries) for my employer and clients.
I have years of real world experience with proven results in online marketing. The Ron Mack Machinery website I manage has many top level rankings for numerous relevant keywords. Visitors find the website from almost 3,000 different keywords every month. Just type 'metalwork machinery' into Google and judge for yourself.
A successful campaign takes time but it doesn't need to cost as much a you might think. This PDF from the Australian Web Industry Association is an excellent overview about SEO marketing.
